Many community projects are thoroughly beta tested by small groups before being released. We invite you to support your testing efforts by uploading your project to DEFCAD as a "prerelease.”

Uploading a prerelease file will display the project on DEFCAD, but will not release it for download. The file will be marked with a red prerelease flag and will be displayed in a special "In Active Development" section on the front page.

 

 

Users can mark an upload as prerelease by checking the "prerelease" checkbox on the upload form.

 

In addition, users can add the version name and description to indicate that a file is not in full release.

 

Uploading a prerelease file is a great way to let the world know what you are working on, to attract new fans and testers, and to build hype.

Note that even though a prerelease entity won't offer files for downloads, you will still upload the files themselves, so that a high-quality render can be created.
